Fires involving PV systems on buildings, recalls for modules and inverters due to injury hazards – as the solar sector accelerates its rapid growth, media outlets in the large solar markets in Europe and America are increasingly reporting about potential hazards. While the number of such incidents has been rather small so far, the effects may harm the whole solar sector. For example, there were already incidents where firefighters refrained from extinguishing a fire as they feared potential hazards from solar rooftop modules.
PHOTON has invited leading experts from the solar industry, standard organizations and firefighters to discuss the challenges and threats of potential safety issues concerning solar.
Topics covered:
- Quality control: How leading PV module and inverter companies control quality in the factory and in the field
- Testing institutes: The latest on safety tests
- Safety standards: Overview and developments of PV safety standards
- Firefighters: How to deal with solar on fire
- Insurance underwriters’ and brokers’ views on PV safety
- Technical solutions for safe and reliable PV power generation
- Executive panel discussion
Target audience:
The conference addresses everybody involved and interested in quality control and safety of producing PV components, and installing and operating PV systems – from decision makers at module, inverter and installation companies, research organizations, insurance companies and project developers to electric utilities and investors.
