Dr. John C. Schumacher has a BS Chemistry, Stanford and a MS Chemical Engineering MIT. He founded several ventures including the industry benchmark in Ultra High Purity Materials and Process Control (J.C. Schumacher Co.), and has more than 40 patents, 35 commercially successful products and a sizable number of marketing innovations to his credit. John C. Schumacher experience includes development of these products: High efficiency, low temperature, closed loop fluid bed process for semiconductor grade polysilicon production; Continuous Melt Replenishment process for single crystal silicon ingot growth; Low cost thin film process for solar cell manufacturing. Since 2005 he is CEO of Peak Sun Silicon Corporation, a company, that is working on the commercialization the tribromosilane fluid bed process Mr. Schumacher has been developing since the mid-70s.
Electronic Grade silicon production technology has evolved in three waves over the past 50 years. After describing the advantages and disadvantages of each, Dr. Schumacher explains the industry need for a process that can be low cost, low energy and highly scalable to support rapid PV industry growth. The Schumacher tribromosilane fluid bed process appears to answer this
need.
